US concern over jailing of China Nobel's in-law

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. is voicing deep concern over the jailing of a brother-in-law of imprisoned Chinese democracy activist Liu Xiabao and urging fair treatment for the Nobel laureate's family.
    


Lynn police: Help us find the arsonist who burned the El Siloe Church to the ground

Lynn police have released photos of the suspect in the May 21 arson of a Lynn church as they investigate acts of vandalism they believe culminated in the fire that destroyed the entire church, according to Lynn police Lieutenant Chris Kelly. The acts of vandalism against El Siloe Church started in February and have involved windows being smashed out overnight, Kelly said.

For the past two years, Samantha Mattei's family has hoped for a multimillion-dollar award in their suit against the MBTA to pay the burgeoning medical costs she has incurred since suffering a brain injury in a 2009 Green Line trolley crash — but their hopes were dashed Monday. Mattei, a 23-year-old Salem resident who was studying mathematics at Merrimack College, was one of several passengers hurt. The MBTA admitted liability in the collision because the trolley operator was found to have been text messaging on his cellphone.

The low pressure system set to arrive Thursday is currently marching across the Midwest, bringing potentially bringing severe weather to the Chicago area this afternoon. Police seek help in finding culprits in bleach attack, robbery on MBTA bus

Police have asked for the public's help in identifying three women who allegedly threw bleach in the face of a man on an MBTA bus and then robbed him, MBTA Transit Police said today. The incident occured on a Route 28 bus on Blue Hill Avenue around 2 a.m. Sunday. Other passengers on the bus helped the man flush out his eyes after the assault, according to Transit Police.
