CAIRO — Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood inherited a corrupt police state with failing institutions. Crime was rising, and the economy was in free fall immediately after longtime leader Hosni Mubarak was toppled last year.

State Department warns U.S. travelers about violence in Mexico

The State Department urges travelers to 'defer nonessential travel' to four of Mexico's 31 states — Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango and Tamaulipas.

Although the number of U.S. citizens killed in Mexico so far this year is down, the U.S. State Department has again issued a detailed travel warning for visitors to the country.
