| Lottery winners from Pembroke and Randolph hit it big — quickly Posted: 08 Nov 2012 02:02 PM PST The tickets had only been available for less than a week, but that didn't stop two Massachusetts men from hitting it big on a new state lottery game. On Nov. 2, John Mancuso of Pembroke was the first grand prize winner of the new "Winner Green" scratch ticket that launched Oct. 30. He won $2.5 million. On Monday, Richard Key of Randolph won a $1 million prize from the new holiday-themed ticket. |

| Ameridose, sister company to pharmacy linked to fungal meningitis outbreak, laying off hundreds Posted: 08 Nov 2012 01:22 PM PST Ameridose, sister company to the Framingham compounding pharmacy whose drugs have been implicated in the national fungal meningitis outbreak, has notified hundreds of workers they are being laid off Friday, as the company remains under a temporary closure order after regulators raised concerns about sterility practices there. The layoff affects 650 workers at Ameridose, a major supplier of injectable drugs to hospitals, and 140 at its affiliated marketing company, Medical Sales Management. Both companies share owners with New England Compounding Center. |

| Eight charged after probe finds misuse of food stamp cards in Brockton Posted: 08 Nov 2012 12:48 PM PST An undercover state trooper posing as a food stamp recipient was able to draw cash from an electronic benefits transfer card from five Brockton businesses, Plymouth County prosecutors said today. Eight people are facing charges after the sting opertaion. The probe which began in May, uncovered a variety of scams involving misuse of the EBT cards, which are used to distribute food stamps and some cash benefits to the poor. |
