| Mayor Menino hospitalized for virus Posted: 28 Oct 2012 12:06 PM PDT Mayor Thomas M. Menino has spent the weekend in a Boston hospital with a virus after coming home two days early from a vacation in Italy, his spokeswoman said on Sunday. Menino has been lethargic and coughing, said Dot Joyce. He went to his doctor on Friday afternoon for a series of tests and was admitted to Brigham and Women's Hospital. "They are diagnosing it as a virus as this point," Joyce said. "He's fine. He's tired. He is participating in decisions regarding the storm." |

| Sandy set to sock Massachusetts early Monday Posted: 28 Oct 2012 02:59 PM PDT High winds will begin battering Massachusetts early Monday, and by afternoon coastal residents can expect hurricane force gusts of up to 60 to 80 miles per hour as Hurricane Sandy reaches north into New England to Boston. Waves offshore could reach 25 to 30 feet. "We haven't seen things this bad in quite a while," said Ken Haydu, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Taunton. "We're going to see a lot of trees down. We're going to see power outages, fairly widespread." Boston schools and many others around the region will close tomorrow. |
