Romney woos Florida early vote; Obama eyes NH Posted: 27 Oct 2012 02:41 PM PDT PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) — Juggling politics and storm preparations, Mitt Romney dangled a plea for bipartisanship before early voters in Florida on Saturday as Barack Obama worked to nail down tiny New Hampshire's four electoral votes. Both campaigns scrambled to steer clear of a most unlikely October surprise, a superstorm barreling up the East Coast.

President Obama’s visit to NH, as seen from the press pool Posted: 27 Oct 2012 01:06 PM PDT A Globe reporter and photographer had the chance to accompany the president in his motorcade today as he visited New Hampshire and spoke at the Elm Street Middle School in Nashua. The trade for that exclusive access was the requirement to provide pool reports and photos to all the other news organizations unable to join in. The poolers were the designated as the eyes and ears for all the other journalists who can't cram in the van.

Posted: 27 Oct 2012 12:41 PM PDT Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick declared a state of emergency Saturday afternoon as the Category 1 Hurricane Sandy loomed off the eastern seaboard. The Bay State will feel the hurricane's effects as early as Sunday evening and storm forces will peak Monday afternoon, said National Weather Service meteorologist Kim Buttrick this afternoon. Hurricane Sandy's center is aimed to hit the southern New Jersey coast first during the day Sunday, but the storm's wide girth means Massachusetts residents will still bear some of the storm's force.
