| GOP candidates in close races disavow rape remark Posted: 24 Oct 2012 03:25 PM PDT WASHINGTON (AP) — Just as Mitt Romney and other Republicans had cut into the Democrats' advantage with female voters, a tea party-backed Senate candidate's awkward remark — that if rape leads to pregnancy it's "something God intended" — has propelled the emotional issue of abortion back to the political forefront. It's put GOP candidates in tight races, from the presidential candidate on down, on the defensive. |

| Southbridge Pop Warner official defends team’s conduct in 5-concussion game Posted: 24 Oct 2012 03:04 PM PDT An official with the Southbridge Pop Warner football program today defended the team's conduct during a Sept. 15 game in which five rival players between the ages of 10 and 12 suffered concussions. Reading from a prepared statement, Rob Philion, vice president of Southbridge Pop Warner Youth Football and Cheer, said the rival Tantasqua coaches bore the responsibility for protecting their players. |
