Obama, Romney seek support from women after debate

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa (AP) — One day after their contentious, finger-pointing debate, President Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney vied aggressively for the support of women voters Wednesday, as they and their running mates charged across nearly a half-dozen battleground states in the close race for the White House with 20 days to run.

No suspects yet in Denver bar homicide-arson

DENVER (AP) — Denver police don't have any suspects as they investigate the slayings of five people whose bodies were found at a neighborhood bar after a fire broke out early Wednesday. Investigators believe they were killed before the fire and the blaze was set to cover up the slayings.

Ukrainian man accused of disturbing Delta flight

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Ukrainian man, hung over from a 50-day drinking binge, said he believed the wing of the airplane was on fire when he disrupted a Salt Lake City-bound Delta Air Lines flight and had to be wrestled to the floor by passengers, authorities allege in a criminal complaint.

Man opens door on plane from Boston at Salt Lake airport; passengers restrain him

Hung over from a 50-day drunk, Anatoliy N. Baranovich thought Delta Flight 1215 was on fire when the aircraft landed at Salt Lake City Tuesday night, triggering a frantic effort by the Ukrainian man to open the rear door of the aircraft and furious struggle with some passengers to restrain him. According to an FBI affidavit filed in federal court in Utah, Baranovich departed Flight 1215 from Boston's Logan Airport around 7:30 p.m.

Government: Violent crimes rose 18 percent in 2011

Lottery ticket worth $30.5m sold in Hyannis

Are you the lucky winner? A Mega Millions ticket was sold to one person in Hyannis but whoever it is has not yet come forward to claim the prize, the state lottery said. The ticket is worth $30.5 million – half of a $61 million jackpot that will be split with a second winner in Fresno, Calif., said Beth Bresnahan, spokeswoman for the Massachusetts State Lottery. The winning ticket with the numbers 13-37-40-46-52 was sold at the AM/PM Convenience on 489 Bearses Way. The store will also get a $50,000 commission from the win, Bresnahan said.
