Mitt Romney praised aspects of the Israeli health care system while speaking to a group of donors on his foreign trip, comments that raised eyebrows in the United States because Israel has the type of government-run health care system that Romney has been strenuously running against in his presidential campaign. Calling Israel a "pretty healthy nation," Romney commented on how the country spends far less to maintain its health care costs, a gap that some studies have attributed to the heavy role of government and a requirement that everyone have health care.
