| Keeping tabs on aging CTA bridges Posted: 28 Nov 2010 03:34 PM PST Northwestern University helps transit agency keep tabs on strength of aging spans The CTA's trains operate across more than 500 bridges, many nearly a century old. The agency added braces to the bridge at Devon and Sheridan on the Red Line last year, and a team from Northwestern University added sensors this summer to measure the strain from daily train traffic. |
